START & FINISH LOCATION:  Race direction will be determined on race day and announced at check-in at Wrightsville Beach Park. Shuttle transportation will be located at packet pickup Saturday morning. The first shuttle will be at 7:15 AM and the last running at 8:30 AM. Please do not wait until 8:30 AM for we will have limited space available. The race briefing will take place at 8:50 AM and we plan on starting at 9:00 AM sharp. We will begin running the shuttle from the race finish back to the park after the last swimmer exits the water.

A bag will be available for you to place any belongings you would like transported from the race start to the race finish. Please be sure to write your participant number on the bag in large numbers.

The Grey Liston Memorial Swim registration will close at 500 swimmers.

We’re sorry, but even the most stoked kid has to be 11 years old on race day to participate.

AWARDS will be given in the following categories:

Overall Male, Overall Female, Overall Masters Male (40+), Overall Masters Female (40+)

Top 3 in the following categories: 11-14, 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

All registered swimmers will be required to wear the race swim cap and timing chip provided. The timing chip must be returned at the finish of the race. The course will be patrolled on the beach by the super awesome Ocean Beach Rescue lifeguards, race marshals in kayaks in the water, and the US Coast Guard. Race day decisions by any of the these individuals will be in regards to your safety so please be polite and understanding. To ensure all swimmers are accounted for, anyone deciding not to race after picking up their packet or leaving the water early must report to the finishing beach to notify a race official and to return your timing chip.

Mid-May Wrightsville Beach water temperature is typically in the low 70’s. Wetsuits will be allowed and our great sponsor blueseventy makes the best. The Grey Liston Memorial Swim will follow USAT rules in regards to wetsuits. This states that competitors may wear wetsuits if the water temperature is 78 degrees or lower. USAT rules also state that if the water temperature is between 78.1 – 83.9 degrees, competitors may wear wetsuits but will not be eligible for awards. If the water temperature is 84 degrees or above, participants may not wear wetsuits. Water temperature will be taken and announced at the starting beach starting area at 7:30 AM.

In the event of inclement weather the Grey Liston Memorial Swim will be postponed in hopes the inclement weather will pass. If the inclement weather does not pass in time to complete the event safely in the original or modified format, the event will be cancelled. If cancelled due to an Act of God or other circumstance beyond the race directors control there will be no refunds, credits, or transfers.

There are no refunds, but rest assured your entry fee is going towards putting on a safe and fun event and all proceeds will find there way into the Grey Liston Endowment Scholarship for the UNC Wilmington Swim & Dive program.
