Hunting Island Adventure Biathlon

Location: Port Royal SC. New location this year due to hurricane damage at Hunting Island State Park. Start and finish will be at the Sands in Port Royal SC. Take Hwy 21 S to Port Royal and go all the way down Parris Ave to the Sands.

Course: Paddlers will start and finish at the Sands at the junction of the Beaufort River and Battery Creek.  The kayak leg will go up Battery Creek until circling a buoy for the return leg. Paddle leg is between 5 and 6 miles. Upon beaching your boat back at the Sands, the running leg will be approximately 4 miles through Port Royal and participants will encounter “adventure challenges” along the way.  Expect the Unexpected.

Start Time: 10:00AM (new earlier time) remember to come early enough to off load kayak and park. Parking will be at the Sands, excess parking for Beaufort county boat ramp, at Town Hall on Parris Ave. and along town streets.

* Chip Timing will be used which allows us to provide split times for paddle and run, as well as compute results accurately and fast.

** Racers will be accessed and responsible for a $30.00 lost chip fee.

Award ceremony immediately following the conclusion of the race.

Categories: Solo, Relay (1 participant paddles and different participant runs), and Tandem (both participants paddle a tandem ((2 person) kayak and both participants must run and finish race together), SUP (Stand Up Paddleboards) Solo or Relay.

Kayaks: any type of kayak permitted with exception of peddle powered kayaks. Peddle Powered boats are prohibited. PFD required.
Rental Kayaks: those needing rental boats may contact The Kayak Farm at 843 838 2008. Suggest contacting them early!

CONTINUED FOR 2017 SUP (Stand Up Paddleboards): Paddle Boards are allowed and will compete in their own category!!

Refunds

This event accepts refunds of 50% of the paid event price up to 14 days prior to the event date or until the event has filled.

Once the refund cutoff date has passed, no further refunds requests will be accepted for this event.

Packet Pick up will be at race site beginning at 8:00AM race day.

Pre-Event meeting will be held at 9:30AM.
